Where can I fit a skip?

On the road (with permit)
By UK law you need to obtain a permit from the Local Authority (Local Council) to place a skip on the road as it is not private property and is used by the general public. The cost of these permits may vary, with the fine exceeding the cost of the permit if one has not been issued. The permit can range from 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks and 4 weeks.
Front garden/ driveway
If you own the property then you can place it anywhere within its boundaries, if you do not own the property you can still place it there but it's best to obtain permission from your landlord or the property owner. It is the most preferred option for people to have a skip on a driveway where one is available as it does not pose as an obstacle to anyone but yourself if placed incorrectly.
Back garden
This tends to be the ideal location if the waste that is needing to be removed is garden waste or waste from landscaping, groundworks etc. as it is far closer to the project being undertaken, it is in the ideal location for convenience. The only difficulty with it being delivered here is that there needs to be adequate access to that location otherwise the skip cannot be placed there.
Anywhere on private property
As previously stated, as long as the land is being placed on you can place it anywhere. It is best mentioned that if it is on private land then the owner's permission is always appreciated.
